What to wear for an Autumn wedding

Posted by Megan M on

Weddings can cause wardrobe panic at the best of times, but autumn weddings add the extra dilemma of the great British weather to the mix.  The potential for heavy rain and strong winds together with the decreasing evening temperature mean that the cute sundress that got you through the summer wedding season may just not be up to the task anymore!

Being prepared for changeable weather and cooler evenings means it's time to trade out those light based prints for a darker more autumnal colour palette, make sure your dress can be worn with or without tights and consider a light jacket or cardigan for the evening.  Don't go too heavy though, it's always warm on the dance floor!

Let's take a look at my top picks for an autumn wedding:

image of mustard floral dress with navy formal jacket

This seasons mustard and navy looks are perfect wedding attire, and this cute mustard dress is great for a formal occasion.  Dressed up with a navy jacket to take off the evening chill, it will look great with or without navy tights so you can check the weather forecast in the morning!

Grey metallic rose print dress, £35

This one is a wedding wardrobe staple, and perfect for a more formal wedding.  Worn with tights and a jacket or pashmina it is perfect for a more wintery wedding, but its bold floral print means you can drop the tights and get some further wear out of it at next summer's weddings too!

Navy Floral Long Sleeve Dress, £30

Another great navy & mustard print, this simple long sleeve dress is a great versatile addition to your wardrobe.  Dress it up with sky high heels and a cute jacket or fluffy cardigan for a more casual winter wedding outfit then you can wear it for work with pumps for the rest of the season.

Black tie belt crop trousers, £35

If dresses aren't your thing, then autumn weddings give the perfect opportunity to ditch the dress is favour of smart trousers.  These black trousers are perfect for a cooler wedding, especially when dressed up with a smart blouse and jacket.  Black & white is always in style, so this one has the potential to be worn for years to come.

Don't forget to pack your dancing shoes and you're all set to have a great time!

Love Megan
